About Us

The Arrowhead Funeral Directors Association (AFDA) was a birth child of the MFDA District 11. Every year the MFDA districts hold fall meetings. District 11 started having a spring social meeting and officially organized the Arrowhead Funeral Directors Association many years ago. We are registered with the state of Minnesota as a professional non-profit organization. Officers were elected and a business meeting with a social dinner was held each spring.

Around 1997 Bob Atkins, the current treasurer of the association at the time, started organizing continuing education seminars for our members and soon thereafter, started inviting all funeral directors to join AFDA and the sole purpose was to provide the required continuing education for funeral directors.

The AFDA is now a non-member organization. Our general purpose and function now is to organize two days of continuing education conferences with relevant and progressive speakers in death dare and open the venue to all funeral directors for a nominal fee. We hold the event two times a year, in the Spring and in the Fall.

After Bob Atkins’ retirement from the association in 2021, fellow funeral directors, Mark Arnold, Robert Archbold and Bill Bauman joined the the Association and its organization of the AFDA continuing education conferences and are now actively maintaining the current goal AFDA by providing exciting new Continuing Education opportunities for deathcare professionals.
